High Res ZBrush Meshing

  1. The wood grain needs to be deeper and the metal pieces attached to the wood need to sharpened and separated more. Right now it looks like one piece. The detail and depth on the cannon itself looks appropriate.

  2. The biggest thing for me is the cannon isn't hollow. The biggest thing when making props or environment pieces like this is that it looks functional so it really jumped out at me that the cannon isn't hollow. Also I think the texture on your barrel is a little stretched near the end of it. Your wood looks really good and the cleanness of the rings on it looks very nice.

  3. Great work! I'd say maybe add some variation in the wood details so that it's not super straight throughout and also adding an opening for the cannon as well as making the lip thicker.

  4. Hi Haley! I really like what you've made! The detail in the wood looks lovely and the accents on the cannon are great! My recommendations would be to reduce some of the noise on the farther end of the cannon and maybe boolean a hole into the end of it to show where the cannon ball will go.

  5. Cannon looks nice, would love to see a reference image to go with it. The edges and mesh look a little soft, but otherwise you can see the shape of it. The noise looks good on the barrel for the cannon.

  6. The cannon has no hole to actually shoot a cannonball, it looks like it's been filled in. Also, the resolution of your mesh looks a tad low, both the metal and wood texturing looks low res. Also maybe add some more variation!

  7. I'm unsure of what your reference looks like, but with the lack of a hole in the front of your canon, it wouldn't be functional. Additionally, I think your wood texture could use a bit more variation, looking at a wood grain might help it feel more natural! I think your cannon barrel currently looks like it's made of limestone, if that is what you are going for then good job! If it's supposed to be metal it would need to be less porous.

  8. Good work on the details on metal, though the noise part on the front of the barrel seems stretched. Wood clay tub brush seems a little faceted, smooth it out a bit.

  9. I like how you keep the clean shapes! However, the noise for both the cannon and the base seems too even. I was also confused about the inner part of the cannon.

  10. This is looking really good, you're really nailing the difference between the metal and the cannon which is great, excellent levels of primary, secondary and tertiary details. I think with the wood you're in a great place with the square brush marks you already have, I would recommend going back in to it and push/pull some lines so it looks more organic. Also I'd give the cannon barrel more of an open hole and watch out for the noise distorting towards the tip.

  11. Patterns are too symmetrical and the details on the cannon have to much contrast to it. Shadows could've been be a bit softer. I really like the overall shape of the cannon.

  12. The detailing on the wheels are faint, could beat them up a bit more. I like the shape of your cannon but the wood seems to be blurry.

  13. Hello, I like the wear detail on your cannon barrel and the shapes are looking really clean. One thing I can recommend is to push the wear of the wood a little further by adding harsher lines to make the sculpture more cohesive.

  14. I love the sculpt and overall shapes! I think the cannon should have a hole in the front of it. Also if the details of the wood were less straight and more random and curly it would look more realistic. Great work!!

  15. I think you have some nice details on the sculpt, but I think the wood plank separation needs to be more.

  16. I really like how similar your cannon is to the reference! However, I think that the wood grain looks very similar all throughout. Great work!
